Healthcare Measures Everything. Why Not Transportation?

Healthcare has evolved dramatically over the past two decades. Hospitals are measured on quality. Physicians are measured on outcomes. Health plans are evaluated on performance. Home health agencies, laboratories, skilled nursing facilities, and virtually every organization involved in patient care operates under recognized standards designed to improve safety, accountability, and consistency. Yet one part of the healthcare continuum is still too often viewed as simply providing a ride.

That perspective no longer reflects reality.

The patients being transported today are older, medically more complex, and transitioning between hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, physician offices, and home. Transportation has become far more than moving someone from one address to another. It has become an extension of patient care, where reliability, communication, training, and consistency can directly influence outcomes.

That raises an important question.

If every other part of healthcare is expected to demonstrate quality through measurable standards, why should transportation be any different? At 360 Quality Care + Transport Services, we don't believe it should be.

That's why we made the decision to become NEMTAC® Accredited. Accreditation isn't something we pursued simply to place another logo on our website. It represents an independent commitment to nationally recognized standards governing safety, employee training, operational procedures, documentation, performance measurement, and continuous improvement. More importantly, it means our processes aren't based on good intentions—they're based on accountability.

For hospitals, discharge planners, social workers, case managers, skilled nursing facilities, physician practices, and health plans, that distinction matters.

When you arrange transportation for a patient, you're placing a great deal of trust in the organization that will complete that transition safely. You shouldn't have to wonder whether employees receive consistent training, whether documentation follows established procedures, or whether operations are guided by recognized standards. Those expectations should already be built into the organization you choose.

That's exactly what accreditation represents.

At 360, we have always believed transportation is part of the healthcare team, not simply a vendor providing a service. Our responsibility begins long before a patient enters one of our vehicles and doesn't end until they have safely arrived at their destination. Every interaction becomes part of the patient's healthcare experience.

As healthcare continues moving toward value-based care, coordinated care, and greater accountability, transportation must evolve alongside it. Organizations should expect more than availability. They should expect measurable quality, operational consistency, and partners committed to continuous improvement.

Because in healthcare, quality shouldn't stop at the hospital door. Neither should accountability.

At 360 Quality Care + Transport Services, we believe healthcare mobility should be held to the same standards as the rest of healthcare. When transportation providers embrace that responsibility, patients experience safer transitions, providers gain greater confidence, and the healthcare system functions exactly as it was intended—with every partner working toward better outcomes.
