Last week, my wife and I had the opportunity to get away for a long weekend when we flew to Florida on Southwest Airlines. I’ve always been an advocate for Southwest’s commitment to customer service and I’ve read numerous books on their founder, Herb Kelleher, on his marketing and service philosophies.
In Southwest Airlines' new digital publication, The Scoop, they featured a message from their recently appointed CEO, Bob Jordan. Most would agree that Southwest Airlines is distinctive when it comes to delivering on their mission. What's profound is the comparison to our goals and mission at 360 Care + Transport Service. And since our beliefs are so similar, I wanted to share some excerpts from Bob's message. I find it extraordinary.
WINTER 2022 - Inside Scoop - Southwest Airlines
A Message From Southwest CEO, Bob Jordan
"There are many beliefs we’ve carried with us from our early years
that remain central to who we are today. Our focus this year is ensuring that we at Southwest Airlines":
offer unique, unrivaled Hospitality. We’re famous for a People-first corporate Culture, and despite the challenges of the past two years, Southwest has maintained our unprecedented record of no involuntary furloughs or layoffs in our 50-year history.
empower our People to do what they do best—serve you with warm and friendly Hospitality. We hire People who think of others first, have a Heart for service, and LUV having fun along the way, and that’s not changing.
do well by doing good through commitments to a diverse and inclusive workforce that is reflective of the Customers we serve. Our Hearts are in serving the communities where we live and work, because we’re more than an airline— we’re your neighbor.
"These focus areas aren’t new to Southwest. Our Purpose is as clear as it’s ever been":
to connect People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel.
I’m so excited for what’s ahead. Whether you’ve flown with us for years or you’re joining us on your very first Southwest flight today, there’s a reason you chose to fly Southwest. We want to continue to provide you with reasons to choose us again and again.
If it were written about 360 Care + Transport, I couldn’t have said it any better myself. I've long admired Southwest for their ability to set the bar high. While 360 doesn't profess to have invented the wheel as a purpose driven hospitality focused transport company with empowered people who care, we stay true to our mission. In fact, Bob Jordan, doesn't necessarily claim it either. But what we both might agree about is the importance of staying true to ourselves, our mission, our people and our customers, each and every day.
Thanks Bob Jordan! - for reinforcing our commitment for what works for us too. Good luck with your new leadership role at Southwest. We think you'll do just fine.
